The 6th annual festival ‘Kannadathi Utsava’ of ‘Avala Hejje’ was celebrated in a unique and innovative way in Mahalakshmi Layout, Bengaluru, through the ‘Miss Mahalakshmi’ Ramp Walk. The event was skillfully directed and hosted by Deepa Girish, known by her pen name Deepadamalli.
In our society, many women dedicate their lives to their families, ensuring the well-being, education, and careers of their loved ones. Others juggle both their professions and family responsibilities while constantly striving to maintain balance. But amidst all this, what about their dreams? What are their interests? What hidden talents do they possess? Can their passion turn into a profession? Can they take out even a few minutes or hours for their personal happiness amidst their daily struggles? The ‘Miss Mahalakshmi’ Ramp Walk was an initiative aimed at exploring these questions.
PASSION SHOW – Not a Fashion Show, but a Passion Show!
This Passion Show featured women aged 7 to 75, who creatively showcased their dreams, skills, and talents through diverse outfits on the ramp. Participants included doctors, lawyers, pharmacists, hairstylists, space scientists, wildlife photographers, social workers, embroidery artists, teachers, fashion designers, models, fitness trainers, yoga practitioners, writers, singers, Bharatanatyam and Kathak dancers, Yakshagana artists, painters, actors, trekkers, and jewelry designers.
Celebrating Generations – ‘Hale Beru, Hosa Chiguru’
Under the theme ‘Old Roots, New Shoots’, women from three to four generations of the same family—grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and granddaughters—walked the ramp together, symbolizing the strong bond and legacy of womanhood across generations.
